The Oyo State government, under the leadership of Engr Seyi Mkainde, has taken full ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (Lautech ), Ogbomoso, in a peaceful resolution between the Oyo State and Osun State. National Universities Commission (NUC) has transferred ownership of Lautech to the Oyo State Government while the Osun state Government is to take over the College of Health Sciences in Osogbo.
Over the years, Oyo State and Osun State have been at loggerheads over the ownership of the university, but the issue has finally come to an end, as Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State signed a memorandum of Agreement to the development.
The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission Professor Abubakar Rasheed stated this at a media briefing in Abuja.
He explained that while the main University ownership was transferred to the Government of Oyo State, the College of Health Sciences, Osogbo is ceded to the Government of Osun State.
“It is gratifying to note that after extensive deliberations, negotiations and consultations, both owner states mutually agreed , and the t ownership of LAUTECH was formally dissolved.
